TALES  OF  THE  TRANSMUTTER

A series of unique Graphic Stories about a device that can change the life of a person or a nation. Each story is set in a different time period and culture with average people making choices to use limetless power. The only limits are: time and the world in which they live.

"It's power is limitless but your time and options aren't."

In the tradition of “Alfred Hitchcock Presents” and the classic “The Twilight Zone”, these are stories of irony and retribution.

HELLO!

Tales of the Transmutter is a series of seven short stories that cover over seven hundred years and take place in a number of diverse countries and societies: Italy1347, Rural Georgia 1871, New York City 1934, Moscow 1952, Washington, D.C. 1961, Chicago in 1978, and Tycho Moon base 2075.

The first story is “To Each His Need” and takes place in 1952 in Soviet Russia under Dictator Joseph Stalin. It starts out with a Russian secret police raid on a family in the middle of the night.

The story quickly turns odd when an officer in the Moscow police department searches a fallout shelter for clues in a smuggling case. Instead he finds an unusual item. He brings it home to his wife as a present for her curio cabinet … and their lives quickly improve.

But so do the chances of their being sent to a prison labor camp to die. They live in a country where only high ranking members of the communist party live well.

The one common thread between these average men and women in different centuries and cultures is: unlimited power to change their lives. The only limits: their ambitions and the societies in which they live. Driving an expensive auto in Moscow 1952 just wasn't an option. Mountains of gold won't keep the Black Death away. A poor share cropper would have to explain where he received the cash or jewels to pay off his debt.

Just like any of us, anyone who becomes rich overnight without a winning lottery ticket or dead, rich relative is going to have a lot of explaining to do in any culture.

Our protagonists are also under the gun. They aren't limited to "three wishes" but time is a factor for us all. How would you create a fortune on a Lunar mining base? Everything brought in and taken back to Earth is weighed. Your fear is that your new-found ability to create wealth won't work back home on Earth so waiting isn't an option. You're due to leave for home in a few months!

Fans of classic Television show like Alfred Hitchcock Presents and The Twilight Zone will enjoy my stories. There's always a twist ending: ironic, fitting, devastating.

I'll be posting more of Songgu Kwon's wonderful pencil drawings and eventually some of his inked art in the next days and week.
